Guy studied architecture at Nottingham University and the Bartlett (UCL). His diploma thesis project explored passive and dynamic approaches to  ‘interactive architecture’ and he has continued to develop his skills in this field since graduating. He is currently part of a team that won funding to design and build an interactive installation for the Burning Man festival in the Nevada Desert.

Prior to Surface, Guy worked at Jackson Clements Burrows Architects in Melbourne and Paul Davis and Partners in London, where he gained a wide range of experience in bespoke residential and commercial work.
