Hi Richard, couldn't resist having seen your recent article in the Hull Mail re Beverley Road regeneration. Excellent.. so nice to see that you have done so well in your career.
Its also nice that music is still very much in your thinking. I have been a music teacher since the early 90's first as head of music in Brigg and for the last 16 years working at York college. Most of my time now is as MD for musical theatre courses. I'm still into the jazz (played at Hull Truck last November with a band) Have composed experimental and jazz pieces but now want to write my first musical (a short thriller)
All the best

I'd like to be able to help. I used to be Conservation Officer with Hull City Council and am now a private Heritage Conservation consultant. I was involved in drawing up the Beverley Road Conservation Area,am a member of the National Civilian WW2 Memorial Trust which is working to save the National Picture Theatre and Swan Inn, and am taking a guided tour round part of Beverley Road as part of Heritage Open Days on Sat 11th Sept 2011.

This road has some beautiful buildings - and much history. it would be great if this artery between the University and City of Hull could be restored to life.

Excellent initiative, and I wish you well. This is a key route into the city and the commercial heart of Hull. It is a sorry mess and despite lots of positive work in the city, in terms of regeneration, the road seems to have been forgotten about. There appears no realistic strategy to address it's decline. I know that every time I drive down it, including for shopping, visiting Hull Truck etc, the road's decline leaves me both depressed and angry. Where's the vision?

Mark,

Thank-you for your comment and interest. We are also interested in Hull's waterfront areas, which I agree are under-valued.

Humber Quays is a scheme designed for a developer competition run by Hull Forward. The developer we worked for on this was Nikal. This scheme won the competition and discussions progressed with Nikal, Hull Forward and Hull City Council. We are hopeful that this scheme will happen, but don't know when this will be.

Please feel free to contact us directly if you want further information.

Best

Hello Fixx,

The X-Lam was produced by KLH Uk as part of a Contractor Design Portion; so we were responsible only for supplying required finished surface tolerances and co-ordinates. The panels were produced in Austria and shipped to London in suitably sized pieces and this was entirely controlled by KLH.

KLH and the fitout Contractors, Vivid Interiors, together arranged the lifting of each panel into position in the extension; they had to be craned completely over the top of the Listed Terrace building so this was quite a complex operation!

Hope that helps

dear surface architects,

this work is amazing! i'm producing my degree thesis on Cross Laminated Timber and your projects speak about my argomentation: the technology of CLT is not only good for chalets and bungalows, it can be a great tool for innovative architecture!
i have only copule of question: how about the sizing of the projects? you have must developed a transportation plan to optimize the transportation from the factory to the building site or it was provided from the x-lam factory?
Thank you

best regards from Italy

Richard,

Have just seen your video 'Dream Hull' there is clearly some very interesting and fresh ideas being floated for the City. My interest is especially in the much under used and cut off waterfront area. Any news re Humber Quays etc?

Kind regards
